Blaze 13U Win Top Spot in the Blaze Invitational
Blaze's newest team took to the courts on Saturday in their first competitive outing of the year . . . and made a terrific start towards what promises to be an exciting season for these young athletes.
Going undefeated throughout the tournament, Blaze defeated Toronto West 25 - 19, 25 - 20 to take home the top prize for the day. Spirits remained high during the day, as the players worked together to present a solid volleyball effort. Strong serving through every game was led by Olivia Zanatta and Isabella Oliveira, while the setting of Shannyn Soblewski and Alyssa Glen gave Blaze an edge in their attack. The back court defence was dominated by the consistent passing of Clare Kumagai and Amanda Rivera made some key plays to keep Blaze in contention. The offence was dominated by the spiking of Braeden Rumple and Shannon Curran, while Nicole Perry , Steph Skoularicos and Loren Onate made key placements into the opponents court for winning points. As always, Rachel Klysen, kept the team positive and confident throughout the day.
The team as a whole dominated by skill ability and team spirit and will definately be a force to be reckoned with as they enter their first OVA touranment on December 12th.
Congratulations team on a great effort. We are proud to have you ladies wear the Blaze colours.
