Coaching Philosophy:
The 2006/2007 season was my first experience as a volleyball head coach. In many ways, it was a building year at the Blaze U16 level, thus allowing me to learn a lot about my self throughout the season. The 3 years leading up to last season, allowed me to develop a volleyball curriculum along side 2 fine gentlemen; my brother Bilal Nassar and later Patrick Krychowski, Sheridan College head coach. Looking back, I believe that last season was very successful and proved to be greatly educational in my coaching development.
Heading into the 2007/2008 season, I am excited and equipped with both the tools and knowledge which will contribute in reaching new heights for my self, the Athletes and the Team. My mission as a coach is to assist these Athletes in reaching their full athletic potential while encouraging them to pursue their dreams and goals. I am convinced that athletic goals, no matter how big or small, can positively impact all other areas of life.
The coaching traits I try to obey by include (but are not limited to):
Love for the Game: I am very passionate about the sport of volleyball. As a coach, it is my desire to share this love for the game with my Athletes.
Develop Character and Skills: I seize upon victories and defeats as teaching moments to build on self-confidence and positive character traits such as discipline, self-motivation and self-worth.
The Athlete comes first: I am very competitive and strive to win, but not at the detriment of an Athlete or the Team. I understand that I am an educator first and the development of my players is a top priority.
Set realistic Goals: I like to focus on the process and effort rather than the outcome. I encourage and inspire Athletes, regardless of their skill levels in striving to achieve excellence.
